<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In a nutshell, I'm really unhappy with the bricks on the Mid-Century Modern build. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_k3j464UpZo/WYeDVXcDV-I/AAAAAAAALA4/XAycFMCQks0j5NcUvcGUjP5bfzmWWboYgCEwYBhgL/s1600/DSCN2585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_k3j464UpZo/WYeDVXcDV-I/AAAAAAAALA4/XAycFMCQks0j5NcUvcGUjP5bfzmWWboYgCEwYBhgL/s320/DSCN2585.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Since this is a four sided building, each end of the house will slide up so that you can see the inside. As you can see, the bricks are just not working with the transition from wall to base. Not to mention that the bricks simply look like crap. You can see where the bricks are made from each carton. There isn't enough texture change. I should have just laid them one by one and mixed it up.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nOIeaNndAmM/WYeDVXn2UVI/AAAAAAAALAw/w0ffv_ZTx7gojdezgkKsUji4XGzSB_njACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCN2586.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nOIeaNndAmM/WYeDVXn2UVI/AAAAAAAALAw/w0ffv_ZTx7gojdezgkKsUji4XGzSB_njACLcBGAs/s320/DSCN2586.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2ZNU--P5tgg/WYeDVb_7zgI/AAAAAAAALAs/C5uiL2HsuvYmAV8FfiZWMGcdagZQ5qqHQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCN2587.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2ZNU--P5tgg/WYeDVb_7zgI/AAAAAAAALAs/C5uiL2HsuvYmAV8FfiZWMGcdagZQ5qqHQCLcBGAs/s320/DSCN2587.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So I tried painting the brick...You can still see the bad texture and it also started to bubble. I must not have had those spots glued down well.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gLZzJgn19zs/WYeEY5TZVEI/AAAAAAAALBE/X87XNc4xc2cJKaFDGXiD1xWGAOEWC_7OwCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCN2583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gLZzJgn19zs/WYeEY5TZVEI/AAAAAAAALBE/X87XNc4xc2cJKaFDGXiD1xWGAOEWC_7OwCLcBGAs/s320/DSCN2583.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UyrpSlJ0Ijg/WYeEY5Wz0yI/AAAAAAAALBA/uquiX1R2adcumJdTFn8Zh5jUz8RNVyoMQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCN2588.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UyrpSlJ0Ijg/WYeEY5Wz0yI/AAAAAAAALBA/uquiX1R2adcumJdTFn8Zh5jUz8RNVyoMQCLcBGAs/s320/DSCN2588.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You can see the transition between the wall and the base is worse on this end.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So as I see it my options are: Peel it all off and place the bricks one by one, Peel it all off and make it limestone like the Atomic Bungalow or peel it all off and make it stucco. I don't think I like the idea of the stucco though because that doesn't seem very Mid-Century modern to me.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The good news is that I'm almost done with the front door and I'm pretty pleased with how it's turning out.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Any input or suggestions on my brick problem would be greatly appreciated!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I was going to do stone work like on my last mid-mod build but I didn't want to be a one trick pony and do the same thing. I also didn't want to do regular bricks. Then I remembered a real life mid-century modern home tour that I went to a few years ago and my favorite house had ivory straight stacked brickwork. So I decided to make longer straight stacked bricks. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I painted egg carton lids and ivory color that I got at Home Depot then cut the bricks with the laser so that they would be consistent. Then I decided that was a crap ton of bricks to glue on individually and would take seemingly forever to get them evenly spaced and straight both vertically and horizontally.</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LsTBJl1EXrM/WU06QFIpudI/AAAAAAAAKl4/IAKizOdpddAXbivuZ4fkACmDX1AZso-GQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCN2421.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LsTBJl1EXrM/WU06QFIpudI/AAAAAAAAKl4/IAKizOdpddAXbivuZ4fkACmDX1AZso-GQCLcBGAs/s320/DSCN2421.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I still cut them with a laser, but didn't go all the way through so they would stay in tact and easier to keep straight. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The bricks look a little dirty from the edges being singed by the laser, but hopefully I will be ably to touch them up with paint later</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">....then I ran out of egg cartons. The front facade took about 13 cartons to cover. I thought I was going to have to eat a lot of eggs.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I tried my</span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><a href="https://minimodpod.blogspot.com/2011/09/making-stone-out-of-newspaper.html" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">home made stone</a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">trick but it turned out either too thick and lumpy or too thin, plus when you paint it the paper absorbs the water and gets wavy. You can't cut uneven surfaces on a laser cutter.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> Ebay to the rescue! I remember reading something about how you can sell things like crayons and egg cartons on Ebay so I thought I'd take a look. Apparently you can get anything on Ebay. I bought 25 cartons with flat lids for $15.00. I'm just waiting for them to arrive.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ever since I sold the Mid-Century Bungalow a few years ago. I've wanted to do another Mid-century modern build. Here's what the MCM Bungalow looked like:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_zIS4Y_6Voc/WSiB_zWD-KI/AAAAAAAAKUQ/zVYc1DyZQ-Ui0cb5srjsXkX5zM4DUsYTACLcB/s1600/IMG_3059.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_zIS4Y_6Voc/WSiB_zWD-KI/AAAAAAAAKUQ/zVYc1DyZQ-Ui0cb5srjsXkX5zM4DUsYTACLcB/s320/IMG_3059.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As you can see it's similar to the <a href="http://www.miniatures.com/">HBS Craftsman Cabin</a> which is this year's Creatin' Contest kit.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xdKBQE2ZPqc/WSiCx2MkSuI/AAAAAAAAKUc/cTx41r2iLe4aHhAVQFhmJd5EuKL_EQbUACLcB/s1600/788c8a5548877f2fd3bba3281594f5f3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="233" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xdKBQE2ZPqc/WSiCx2MkSuI/AAAAAAAAKUc/cTx41r2iLe4aHhAVQFhmJd5EuKL_EQbUACLcB/s1600/788c8a5548877f2fd3bba3281594f5f3.jpg" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I finally decided to start the build even though I have three unfinished projects that I'm "working" on. I haven't decided if I will enter the contest this year. I guess it depends in whether or not I actually finish it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EqyA4ANCGsA/WSiDXO4hA6I/AAAAAAAAKUk/zV1ypFtD5Lg5J3RG1oHPEWuUxIkDqBoWgCLcB/s1600/DSCN2313.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EqyA4ANCGsA/WSiDXO4hA6I/AAAAAAAAKUk/zV1ypFtD5Lg5J3RG1oHPEWuUxIkDqBoWgCLcB/s320/DSCN2313.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I've made quite a few changes to the kit. First I closed up the front door, picture window and the window on the back side. I also cut two new doorways and all new windows. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fS-CEyXELLg/WSiDXTcuxKI/AAAAAAAAKUs/vJcatREIHvM3EYXFziZeQ4rZx0calX7eQCLcB/s1600/DSCN2314.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fS-CEyXELLg/WSiDXTcuxKI/AAAAAAAAKUs/vJcatREIHvM3EYXFziZeQ4rZx0calX7eQCLcB/s320/DSCN2314.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I moved the front door to the other side and put an addition on the left to make a bedroom and bathroom. I also made a triangular window much like the MCM Bungalow.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J_WYsIPemUY/WSiDXRIjI5I/AAAAAAAAKUo/mf0Cooe_ah0NSNMqpmB4SiCgx-FOf6HbgCLcB/s1600/DSCN2315.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J_WYsIPemUY/WSiDXRIjI5I/AAAAAAAAKUo/mf0Cooe_ah0NSNMqpmB4SiCgx-FOf6HbgCLcB/s320/DSCN2315.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> It will have a sunken living room. I cut a square in the floor and put one inch supports under the area where I cut. Since the kit has a raised floor this worked out perfectly.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KWK8YzeD_gw/WSiDZFfNwhI/AAAAAAAAKUw/wFeGuJvLlGgJIJ1Yd6L-xwnhW_PVGPV3ACLcB/s1600/DSCN2316.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KWK8YzeD_gw/WSiDZFfNwhI/AAAAAAAAKUw/wFeGuJvLlGgJIJ1Yd6L-xwnhW_PVGPV3ACLcB/s320/DSCN2316.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I used 1/4" fiberboard for the addition because I can't find 3/8" anywhere. The windows are a little deeper than the walls so I will cut some mat board to thicken the walls a bit.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jcMRL2jS1VI/WSiFLpra-zI/AAAAAAAAKVA/RhfKTwMFvj4TDJ_cvKShr5Gl6OGxX0AAwCLcB/s1600/b694ac847a77f392a6e76000b9660c00.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" data-original-height="769" data-original-width="1280" height="192" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jcMRL2jS1VI/WSiFLpra-zI/AAAAAAAAKVA/RhfKTwMFvj4TDJ_cvKShr5Gl6OGxX0AAwCLcB/s320/b694ac847a77f392a6e76000b9660c00.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> The angled roof line will be extended to make a car port a lot like this one.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I will just do my best to make them with the laser cutter. Wish me luck!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On Friday I was doing a bit of cleaning and when I emptied my husbands trash can in his man cave and found these little metal pieces that looked just like the foil holder for tea light candles. So of course I went digging through the trash to find more.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JslewyD5Hos/WQ9vX4KG73I/AAAAAAAAKIo/6K0nnaaj_EQfbmTpURdI3j0sT-L7_QGDACLcB/s1600/DSCN2290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JslewyD5Hos/WQ9vX4KG73I/AAAAAAAAKIo/6K0nnaaj_EQfbmTpURdI3j0sT-L7_QGDACLcB/s320/DSCN2290.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">These are small pistol bullet primers that he uses to make bullets. These are the ones that have been used. I can't stress enough that if you want to use the same things to make tea lights...make sure they are used. Other wise you could get seriously injured.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Any way I used a pick and removed the little anvils that are inside of them.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2y4YzF3pM0Q/WQ9v-3YfncI/AAAAAAAAKIs/uPrqICK_pWET69x7TXVyNdwskUin8e5mwCLcB/s1600/DSCN2291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2y4YzF3pM0Q/WQ9v-3YfncI/AAAAAAAAKIs/uPrqICK_pWET69x7TXVyNdwskUin8e5mwCLcB/s320/DSCN2291.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Which leaves the primer cup.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We then used polymer clay to fill the cups, </span></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">and used a little bit of mono-filament fishing line for the wicks.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Once again as I told myself I won't go this year...I went. Chicago is about a 3-3 1/2 hour drive from where I live so it's really hard to resist. The lessons I learned this year are: bring more cash....a lot more and suck it up, just take a day off of work and buy the preview tickets. My plan was to go to the Three Blind Mice show on Friday and the Bishop Show on Saturday. Which I did.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Three Blind Mice show was mostly basic things.Here's what I found there:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--6M9vzVyWKQ/WQ0VFjsdmOI/AAAAAAAAKEw/Hwuk12R76CofT1b5XEKCa_jRGqbIwxdygCLcB/s1600/DSCN2278.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--6M9vzVyWKQ/WQ0VFjsdmOI/AAAAAAAAKEw/Hwuk12R76CofT1b5XEKCa_jRGqbIwxdygCLcB/s320/DSCN2278.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Fabulous Gerber Daisy kits (my favorite flower) and great bird feeder from...Darn I can't remember the name.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8mEv5nis2iw/WQ0VGUSDj1I/AAAAAAAAKE0/mMUP8j0c5QcGqsh_CKThFl9akV6QOtQ_QCLcB/s1600/DSCN2279.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8mEv5nis2iw/WQ0VGUSDj1I/AAAAAAAAKE0/mMUP8j0c5QcGqsh_CKThFl9akV6QOtQ_QCLcB/s320/DSCN2279.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> The most amazing detailed humming bird feeder with a humming bird and shepherds hook and some very detailed birds from <a href="http://www.mini-gems.com/">Mini-Gems</a>. She also has 1:24 scale and other small animals.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xg-lLiBch_s/WQ0VI0Vp00I/AAAAAAAAKE4/iWpRF_GWedQVenH66goFq3zyNSjEIILzACLcB/s1600/DSCN2287.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xg-lLiBch_s/WQ0VI0Vp00I/AAAAAAAAKE4/iWpRF_GWedQVenH66goFq3zyNSjEIILzACLcB/s320/DSCN2287.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And this little cactus-I can't remember the name of the vendor.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> After the Three Blind Mice show I had some dinner at Ikea - Those meatballs! We don't have one where I live yet, but we're getting one in the fall! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I did a little local shopping and didn't buy anything.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Saturday, I got to the Bishop Show a bout half an hour later than I expected. I headed right to <a href="http://www.patriziasantiminiatures.com/">Patrizia Santi</a> and bought my first pair of her shoes...they're amazing! I am so in love with them!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RtymDO1wOI4/WQ0UA0CsJEI/AAAAAAAAKEk/4nsRg1mwWaQ0cAp8QM_AydhGoDbtx70lQCLcB/s1600/DSCN2280.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RtymDO1wOI4/WQ0UA0CsJEI/AAAAAAAAKEk/4nsRg1mwWaQ0cAp8QM_AydhGoDbtx70lQCLcB/s320/DSCN2280.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I rushed to<a href="http://www.ulusminiaturas.com/"> Ulus Miniatures</a> and ogled for a little bit. I didn't bring a lot of cash and I knew I could buy some of his stuff online So I waited to see what I could spend.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I met up with <a href="http://www.otterine.com/">Brae</a> who informed me that there was a third show...of course right down the street from where I stayed the night before...wouldn't you figure. Anyway she said it was worth it to check it out so we did....and she was right! I so wish I had realized that the show was going the day before. I would have spent a lot more time there.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here's what I found there:</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This super cow hide. I love the print and it's really hard to find a print small enough and nap short enough to look real in 1:12. Unfortunately, I forget the name of the shop.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This may be a long post since I haven't really posted for several months. </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I know I've been a recluse lately and I really have no excuse other than procrastination. After the miniature show in September I listed what didn't sell in my </span><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/ModPodMiniatures" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Etsy shop</a><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> and it's pretty much been sold out for awhile. Then with that money and since my birthday was in October, I bought a new toy....I got a laser cutter! I'm super excited about it! It's a "cheapo" Chinese laser cutter and it's awesome! I've spent many hours online and on Youtube researching info about how to use it and tips, tricks etc. I've also had to learn how to use vector design and run into many problems with sizing and saving files etc. For some reason, the program that came with the laser cutter doesn't recognize the type of file that is typically used with a laser cutter, so I've had to figure out how to get around that by using the free two week trial of Corel Draw (of course that expired and I had to buy the program). Many thanks to</span><a href="https://mitchymoominiatures.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> Pepper</a><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> and her laser cutter expertise for her advise and tips!</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here are a couple of my trials:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EGI0Bg8neHw/WGr2aU2gClI/AAAAAAAAJiw/OnMg2HV6wKcHSli8GQilXfVf2nQNDHWGgCLcB/s1600/DSCN2164.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EGI0Bg8neHw/WGr2aU2gClI/AAAAAAAAJiw/OnMg2HV6wKcHSli8GQilXfVf2nQNDHWGgCLcB/s320/DSCN2164.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> I plan on using these as little picture frames.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w_iYNgD1-dM/WGr2abcdVgI/AAAAAAAAJi0/vyWcBlhVFjMqYa7UWYDwKdFC4xeAXiVDQCLcB/s1600/DSCN2165.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w_iYNgD1-dM/WGr2abcdVgI/AAAAAAAAJi0/vyWcBlhVFjMqYa7UWYDwKdFC4xeAXiVDQCLcB/s320/DSCN2165.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">And using this as a room divider.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've just recently officially finished a few Mid-Century Broyhill Brasilia Inspired mid-century modern pieces with the use of the laser cutter to cut the design out of teak veneer. I adhered the teak veneer to 1/16" thick walnut to make the doors.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Eames bird is from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/PhillipNuveen">Philip Nuveen</a> on Etsy</span></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B7BvgV0uf4Q/WEF-9bNeGmI/AAAAAAAAJTM/Ihgq9wHy674R0wAg_5sh9Nt70DZ-I88PwCLcB/s1600/DSCN2041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B7BvgV0uf4Q/WEF-9bNeGmI/AAAAAAAAJTM/Ihgq9wHy674R0wAg_5sh9Nt70DZ-I88PwCLcB/s320/DSCN2041.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'm thrilled about how these turned out!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<h2>
<span style="color: lime; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">No Commitments!</span></h2>
</div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have decided not to make any commitments this year as far as mini-ing goes. I adore the new HBS Creatin Contest Kit and I already ordered it, however I'm not making any commitment to enter the contest. I never did get any further with last year's Backyard Bungalow kit. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A few years ago, I won the Artply Highland Dollhouse kit on Ebay, sadly all of the major parts like floors and walls were missing. At the time <a href="http://call-small.blogspot.com/">Call-Small</a> was kind and generous enough to send me the specs of the missing pieces so that I could replicate them. I just never got around to making them. Last month there were actually TWO of them listed in Ebay. One was listed as a buy-it-now for $300.00 and one was an auction which I won for $53.00 plus shipping. I took inventory and all the pieces are there!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RoqHpKgonPc/WGr6dsjxBXI/AAAAAAAAJjQ/GPtv_vvzUKwffG077IF7MkdeOyL5AuAqQCLcB/s1600/Artply%2BHighland.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RoqHpKgonPc/WGr6dsjxBXI/AAAAAAAAJjQ/GPtv_vvzUKwffG077IF7MkdeOyL5AuAqQCLcB/s320/Artply%2BHighland.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7b59An_noQI/WGr6djLxiMI/AAAAAAAAJjM/Rdd8le5Wh0IA9h7fnEizjwBUUIiiIx6MQCLcB/s1600/il_570xN.517966355_fbni.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7b59An_noQI/WGr6djLxiMI/AAAAAAAAJjM/Rdd8le5Wh0IA9h7fnEizjwBUUIiiIx6MQCLcB/s320/il_570xN.517966355_fbni.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Even though things in my life have been crazy busy, I have had time to work on a few things mainly the Citadel. I've been working on the kitchen which is very close to being done. I bought an <a href="http://www.elfminiatures.co.uk/ELF+Steel+extractor+fan+kit++PUFqTjRJRE14b0RkalZIWnZKSGM">exhaust fan kit from Elf Miniatures</a>, however I'm not happy with how it turned out (only because of my own impatience). I'm going to just order one ready made. Otherwise It's pretty much finished.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i1scS-6j1_E/WGr3S9kDU_I/AAAAAAAAJi8/1CF6BAxj50EsmWkKPh2D42gOK4PfwewhgCLcB/s1600/DSCN2156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i1scS-6j1_E/WGr3S9kDU_I/AAAAAAAAJi8/1CF6BAxj50EsmWkKPh2D42gOK4PfwewhgCLcB/s320/DSCN2156.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> I've also been working on the bathroom. It still has a way to go but at least the larger pieces are in place. I'm so in love with the light. It was designed by Mini Dork of <a href="http://modernminihouses.blogspot.com/">Modern mini houses</a>. She has a <a href="http://modernminihouses.blogspot.com/p/my-shop.html">shop on Shapeways </a>where she has designed some really awesome modern 3-D printed pieces.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0EzNyPdB1OY/WGr3SxW-1NI/AAAAAAAAJjA/xLbCVBbaL_QixdJbCz0FeGGPZCUnwk4DwCLcB/s1600/DSCN2161.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0EzNyPdB1OY/WGr3SxW-1NI/AAAAAAAAJjA/xLbCVBbaL_QixdJbCz0FeGGPZCUnwk4DwCLcB/s320/DSCN2161.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">But the Citadel is still basically where it's been for some time...in my terribly messy work room where it's been for nearly 4 years. I think it's about time to finish this!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PGIbjjtFUdY/WGr80IV5r5I/AAAAAAAAJjc/E8h26CKO4HYqMaZ4_kq2sdx4P_iIvF51QCLcB/s1600/DSCN2162.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PGIbjjtFUdY/WGr80IV5r5I/AAAAAAAAJjc/E8h26CKO4HYqMaZ4_kq2sdx4P_iIvF51QCLcB/s320/DSCN2162.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-alaZhVKf5bg/WGr80Zhd3FI/AAAAAAAAJjg/zQ973ThHs5YOrRoIbY3slPhD_ZokCQJFgCLcB/s1600/DSCN2163.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-alaZhVKf5bg/WGr80Zhd3FI/AAAAAAAAJjg/zQ973ThHs5YOrRoIbY3slPhD_ZokCQJFgCLcB/s320/DSCN2163.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My goal (no commitment) is go get this finished before I start any additional projects.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2C7lPu5KVmE/WGr9HOVaWgI/AAAAAAAAJjk/YNi_gKz12EUbHJxawGxcMGCUtJ9ZmlPKACLcB/s1600/DSCN2166.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2C7lPu5KVmE/WGr9HOVaWgI/AAAAAAAAJjk/YNi_gKz12EUbHJxawGxcMGCUtJ9ZmlPKACLcB/s320/DSCN2166.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">And last but not least, the Mad Men inspired office has it's furniture and lighting. I still need for figure out the roof and accessorize. Goal #2: also have this done before starting another project! Yes, that's a picture of me and my son at Halloween several years ago in the background...It's hard to believe he's taller than me now (maybe not so hard to believe...I'm only 5'2")!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So there is the last part of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 in a nutshell.I hope everyone has a great holiday season and <b><span style="color: cyan;">Happy New Year!</span></b></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As many of you know, I am the proud owner of a Citadel Dollhouse that was made in the 90's. It's one of the very few modern dollhouses that have been manufactured. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I fell in love with this house many years ago when I traveled for my sales job. This is what it looked like back in the 90's when I first fell in love with modern miniatures.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well that original house that I fell in love with is now for sale on Ebay. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I know I haven't posted in awhile. That's because I decided to give selling at the<a href="http://www.museumofminiatures.org/"> Museum of</a> Miniature Houses Show another try. I did the show a few years ago and literally made enough to pay for my table. I did it again last year and it was better. This year was about the came as last year. I swear I'm not complaining...really! I had so much fun talking with and trading secrets with other miniaturists and now I have a ton of stuff to list on <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/ModPodMiniatures">Etsy</a>. So here are a few pics of what I've been up to for the last two months instead of cleaning my house or working on other projects.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nhTyVG7wQBw/V-CCqEHMWmI/AAAAAAAAIz8/IehoQXnlrPExLWZuDj2_w03NPjG5iOmWQCLcB/s1600/20160917_104830.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nhTyVG7wQBw/V-CCqEHMWmI/AAAAAAAAIz8/IehoQXnlrPExLWZuDj2_w03NPjG5iOmWQCLcB/s320/20160917_104830.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> My table. I really enjoyed</span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> being on the inside of the show. It's so much fun to joke around with the other vendors.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Several months ago,<a href="http://www.otterine.com/blog/blog1.php"> Otterine</a> blogged about her amazing entry for the 2015 HBS Creatin' Contest. One of the things she did was to make a mini snake plant for her retro abode. Since then, I have been looking for the book that she mentioned "Miniature Plants Made from Florist's Tape" by Ruth Hanke. I have found the book, but it's generally about $20.00+ for a book that is really a booklet and I can't seem to justify that much. Anyway I found a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePzgTMgpes4">video tutorial of snake plants</a> made from twist ties by Joanne's Minis.</span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Since I was on vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan a few weeks ago, I decided to give it a try while my kids and husband were fishing. As much as I despise WalMart, it was the only place where I could get supplies all in one place, so off to WalMart </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I went to get the goods</span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">. By the way the WalMart on Houghton Michigan is the only one that I have ever been to that was actually clean, somewhat organized and the people who work there are nice. That aside, here are the supplies:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Florist wire, floral tape, glue, paint, scissors and floral foam. Most of these you can most likely get at the dollar store.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">First, I cut the wire down to various lengths then I cut the floral tape into small strips. I found out that floral tape really isn't much of a tape. It's really not sticky at all.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K7ou5VjuTkU/V6z6LMe0YwI/AAAAAAAAIMQ/J_6IA7W-V7QVi1Kc-tsX3fCrF59ArrB9ACLcB/s1600/20160720_202348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K7ou5VjuTkU/V6z6LMe0YwI/AAAAAAAAIMQ/J_6IA7W-V7QVi1Kc-tsX3fCrF59ArrB9ACLcB/s320/20160720_202348.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">I used a paint brush to apply glue to one piece of the floral tape then I placed a piece of wire in the center with about 1/2 inch sticking out on one end. Then I placed another piece of floral tape on top and pressed them together. I did this several times to make several leaves.</span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-likmCVvabw4/V6z6T24jB5I/AAAAAAAAIMU/IOOfGLrubx8QHyBIN7HFnymmbPZ7SvGuACLcB/s1600/20160720_202525.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-likmCVvabw4/V6z6T24jB5I/AAAAAAAAIMU/IOOfGLrubx8QHyBIN7HFnymmbPZ7SvGuACLcB/s320/20160720_202525.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xRMjfKz6nUo/V6z6aIEL4eI/AAAAAAAAIMY/e3JcDharvPUVLcoojkBPqDlFpLcBbRKDgCLcB/s1600/20160720_202559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xRMjfKz6nUo/V6z6aIEL4eI/AAAAAAAAIMY/e3JcDharvPUVLcoojkBPqDlFpLcBbRKDgCLcB/s320/20160720_202559.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Next, I cut down the leaves and gave them a bit of a point at the top.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CvQuetjttbU/V6z6knS6UgI/AAAAAAAAIMc/FImF6pA4p4kUM4_CyrV0Lj_gMpQ8j6qaACLcB/s1600/20160720_210058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CvQuetjttbU/V6z6knS6UgI/AAAAAAAAIMc/FImF6pA4p4kUM4_CyrV0Lj_gMpQ8j6qaACLcB/s320/20160720_210058.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I mixed up two shades of green one light and one a little darker. I painted squiggly lines in the lighter color then went back with the darker shade to blend the colors. Once that dried, I mixed up a light yellow and went along the outer edges.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cQCOu3dlRt0/V6z6zsNURSI/AAAAAAAAIMs/XEmzEWiitCYBtnYSbRQWvc6edRYSEjkNACLcB/s1600/20160720_210407.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cQCOu3dlRt0/V6z6zsNURSI/AAAAAAAAIMs/XEmzEWiitCYBtnYSbRQWvc6edRYSEjkNACLcB/s320/20160720_210407.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-drQZdevHlbM/V6z6zcHMicI/AAAAAAAAIMo/DYntDOkY4NwO87cmXjLOX-KhwFD5nwE_ACLcB/s1600/20160720_210545.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-drQZdevHlbM/V6z6zcHMicI/AAAAAAAAIMo/DYntDOkY4NwO87cmXjLOX-KhwFD5nwE_ACLcB/s320/20160720_210545.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UJQp-vFt0NE/V6z6y1X6EgI/AAAAAAAAIMk/RWvwPKmrLhQyAY3fJHIm7nnLwTZuFY5IACLcB/s1600/20160720_210734.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UJQp-vFt0NE/V6z6y1X6EgI/AAAAAAAAIMk/RWvwPKmrLhQyAY3fJHIm7nnLwTZuFY5IACLcB/s320/20160720_210734.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I stuck the wire ends into some floral foam to let the leaves dry.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8uNRy3ZidFE/V6z7Ff6miNI/AAAAAAAAIMw/aQsykhemtDcqW_iMEdYnNg6tamPYcbKPACLcB/s1600/20160720_222458.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8uNRy3ZidFE/V6z7Ff6miNI/AAAAAAAAIMw/aQsykhemtDcqW_iMEdYnNg6tamPYcbKPACLcB/s320/20160720_222458.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Er1pZD00t30/V6z7FvHx1sI/AAAAAAAAIM0/Pv6ZZ9aoxvI7CgW9cO87cvv_Ke3CQ20XQCLcB/s1600/20160720_222524.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Er1pZD00t30/V6z7FvHx1sI/AAAAAAAAIM0/Pv6ZZ9aoxvI7CgW9cO87cvv_Ke3CQ20XQCLcB/s320/20160720_222524.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> Next, I chose a planter and cut down a little piece of floral foam to fit inside the planter. I dipped the wire end of the leaves in glue then stuck them into the foam. Last I glued fish tank gravel around the base of the plant to cover the foam. I was looking for some kind of "dirt" and the only thing I could think of is coffee grounds and quite frankly, the smell of coffee makes me gag (sorry coffee lovers).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I0f7eKIlI1g/V6z76pLnuxI/AAAAAAAAIM8/b33QepNAfDw7boNdMllrUUaYubu3Y3CDQCLcB/s1600/20160811_170053.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I0f7eKIlI1g/V6z76pLnuxI/AAAAAAAAIM8/b33QepNAfDw7boNdMllrUUaYubu3Y3CDQCLcB/s320/20160811_170053.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Voila!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Feel free to use this tutorial to make your own snake plants!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So, I have decided to abandon my original Creatin' Contest plan which was to do something like this:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_a-02efJLJQ/V31CyMo6vWI/AAAAAAAAHro/JkMEzAUYvhgCP-ZzT3a72aFG6VcpAylYgCLcB/s1600/8x20-free-house-plans-600x476.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_a-02efJLJQ/V31CyMo6vWI/AAAAAAAAHro/JkMEzAUYvhgCP-ZzT3a72aFG6VcpAylYgCLcB/s320/8x20-free-house-plans-600x476.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I decided to something a little more simple. Unfortunately, I don't have an inspiration picture to show you because the only place I can seem to find what I want to do is on <a href="http://www.houzz.com/">Houzz</a>. Houzz is a great website for inspiration for both real life and the miniature world.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IjWqAme1rUo/V31Evg2zxvI/AAAAAAAAHr4/1BxOaUPmQvsDBZay1Xhdm9fcZC33HSfCACLcB/s1600/DSCN1452.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IjWqAme1rUo/V31Evg2zxvI/AAAAAAAAHr4/1BxOaUPmQvsDBZay1Xhdm9fcZC33HSfCACLcB/s320/DSCN1452.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">I purchased two kits, however I ended up only using one of them. I decided it was much easier to build the two floors of the modern beach house separately.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kbgUPxGvUBA/V31ExdCJSRI/AAAAAAAAHr8/8En6ASla2gcB4Ygc3m36_OS15dGtrugvQCLcB/s1600/DSCN1455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kbgUPxGvUBA/V31ExdCJSRI/AAAAAAAAHr8/8En6ASla2gcB4Ygc3m36_OS15dGtrugvQCLcB/s320/DSCN1455.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> The top floor will be the bedroom with the two sets of french doors. The bottom will have two large sliding doors that make up the bottom right corner of the house. I have one slider left over from last year's Denise's City Cottage kit and luckily HBS is now carrying those<a href="http://www.miniatures.com/Sliding-Door--P26516.aspx"> sliders</a> so I bought another one.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-i5BahcZHtU8/V31Gi1HON5I/AAAAAAAAHsE/KUh8dKORa4ARzfWjxEo9G8YEd43D7L_ewCLcB/s1600/DSCN1456.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-i5BahcZHtU8/V31Gi1HON5I/AAAAAAAAHsE/KUh8dKORa4ARzfWjxEo9G8YEd43D7L_ewCLcB/s320/DSCN1456.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> Once they are put together it will be shaped like this. The top will have a large deck and there will be a deck off the side of the bottom floor. I think I need to add some more windows. Yes, that's my totally messy workroom in the background.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LzUn2r6DDCg/V31Gzci-oSI/AAAAAAAAHsM/h_lZITppuykNXXAK0DUgmbE1MvznmJ2twCLcB/s1600/DSCN1457.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LzUn2r6DDCg/V31Gzci-oSI/AAAAAAAAHsM/h_lZITppuykNXXAK0DUgmbE1MvznmJ2twCLcB/s320/DSCN1457.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> When the upper floor is on, it's pretty dark which isn't a great feeling in a beach house. You can see the flooring I have picked out for the downstairs. The blue and white laminate will be for the bathroom. Crap! I just realized that I need some way to get upstairs...oops. I guess I need to address that. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">How many mini projects or even RL have you worked on at one time? I am actively working on 5 mini projects. Not to mention that I still haven't done the floor in our laundry room that leads from the kitchen that we finished last year. Plus my husband wants to start on remodeling the kids bathroom this summer, I have several pieces of furniture I have been planning on refinishing and I need to make new cushions for our outdoor furniture. We are also getting new windows for our house this week which means I will have to make new window treatments because some of the new windows are going to be a different configuration than what we have now. Oh, and I'm working in the office more this summer than in the past so I think I may need to eliminate at least one.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Technically these two are one project because they are part of the same build: The Citadel, but I'm counting them as two because they are different rooms.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gwh_ltuXAhA/V1TbgNWfqKI/AAAAAAAAHf8/N2IX565o_xsT_ZO_TZhaFjIq_vtS7CJqwCLcB/s1600/DSCN1358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gwh_ltuXAhA/V1TbgNWfqKI/AAAAAAAAHf8/N2IX565o_xsT_ZO_TZhaFjIq_vtS7CJqwCLcB/s320/DSCN1358.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I've got a good grasp in the kitchen. The main parts are done. The oven, fridge and island are<a href="http://www.elfminiatures.co.uk/"> Elf Miniatures</a> kits. The back splash is made from aluminum flashing from the hardware store and metal laminate samples. I made the cabinet units and the dishwasher. The bar stool is the Pauchard stool from <a href="https://www.shapeways.com/product/M4CT7PNWM/1-12-pauchard-stool?optionId=38297739">Pretty Small Things</a> at Shapeways, but I ordered some other ones that I think may be better suited. I will show you them when they arrive</span>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OoJP-kPEahM/V1TbhdO0FCI/AAAAAAAAHgE/VNgg5mhUKTQdCVVtX0TQvX5Mh86a-gdewCLcB/s1600/DSCN1362.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OoJP-kPEahM/V1TbhdO0FCI/AAAAAAAAHgE/VNgg5mhUKTQdCVVtX0TQvX5Mh86a-gdewCLcB/s320/DSCN1362.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm loving the bathroom so far. I wanted to make everything removable so that in the future I don't have to trash anything to make a new scene in the room. I made the structure of the shower area out of foam core board so that I could make a recessed area for toiletries. The rain shower head is of made from aluminum rod, a cover button and jewelry findings. The ceiling light is an enlarged design from Mini Dork's AKA <a href="http://modernminihouses.blogspot.com/">Modern Mini Houses</a>'s<a href="https://www.shapeways.com/product/UKA7LYTRQ/modern-vase-1-12-scale?optionId=40989143"> Shapeways shop</a>. Unfortunately when I built the house the wall wasn't plumb, so I have to figure out how to disguise the untrue wall to the left. The tile in the shower and on the floor are free laminate samples.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5P3AvWbMjyM/V1TfY7DRHbI/AAAAAAAAHgY/4rpqOAZKTD8QZSc0kNpsfrhsWEIVwUG2ACLcB/s1600/DSCN1357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5P3AvWbMjyM/V1TfY7DRHbI/AAAAAAAAHgY/4rpqOAZKTD8QZSc0kNpsfrhsWEIVwUG2ACLcB/s320/DSCN1357.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Project # 3 is the 2015 HBS Creatin' Contest build. An Homage to Mad Men. I finally got the basic office space done, but I have A LOT of accessorizing to do. I decided not to do a replica, but to get the basic layout and vibe of Don Draper's office.My favorites are the ceiling, paneling and of course the amazing desk by Patie at <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/minisx2">Minisx2 </a> (I miss you and your work!!!)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Mini project #4 is the 2016 Creatin' Contest which is unfortunately the project that I may be aborting.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ksf5H5YP3OA/V1ThEeX6b-I/AAAAAAAAHgk/vgsWS98I-dQohSxQV83G1sr04RlZiWNaQCLcB/s1600/DSCN1367.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ksf5H5YP3OA/V1ThEeX6b-I/AAAAAAAAHgk/vgsWS98I-dQohSxQV83G1sr04RlZiWNaQCLcB/s320/DSCN1367.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qOdoutp1W3Q/V1ThFKDL8jI/AAAAAAAAHgo/ig9_IYj9J2gbRylYEbr-qw9YgxXYsu33ACLcB/s1600/DSCN1368.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qOdoutp1W3Q/V1ThFKDL8jI/AAAAAAAAHgo/ig9_IYj9J2gbRylYEbr-qw9YgxXYsu33ACLcB/s320/DSCN1368.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> For the most part the only original parts that I would plan on keeping are the base and the roofing pieces. I think this is going to be more complicated than I anticipated, plus I made some major mistakes. If I do continue with this, I will buy another kit to combine with the original and do something more beachy.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The 5th mini project hasn't been physically addressed; just buying items for the project: I'm taking Area 54 gutting the inside with the exception of the rafters and making it into a modern industrial studio loft.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm just not going there with the real life projects. I'm just happy I can work on any projects!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I picked up some fruit slices in jars, perfume bottles and designer tags for making bags but there isn't a receipt and I can't remember the name of the shop where I bought them.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">On Saturday morning before I hit the Bishop Show, I was able to get to the Three Blind Mice show. It started an hour before the Bishop Show which meant I had about an hour to shop.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The first thing I bought was this Panton chair, Eames Shell chair and a surfboard from <a href="http://wcdminiatures.weebly.com/">WCDminiatures</a>.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I got this happy little welcome mat from Designs by Janet. I didn't see a web address on the receipt.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This past weekend, I had the opportunity to head to Chicago for the Tom Bishop international miniature show. The best part of the show is that it was fun and I was able to meet new miniaturists and see some friends.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Upon arriving at the show I headed straight away to </span><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/MiniFanaberia" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">MiniFanaberia's</a><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> table. I had seen her new retro fridges online and I was determined to get one. I had to have it! Then I saw them and it was like the gods opened the clouds shining a bright light down on those amazing little retro fridges. It lights up and there wasn't a detail missing. Her work is even more amazing in person. Then my eyes welled up with tears...I could not have that amazing miniature fridge. I just couldn't justify spending that much. Besides I didn't have the cash on me (It's really a good thing she didn't accept credit cards because I might have bought it if she did). So, I bought an iron instead. Dorota is adorable so sweet and seemed flattered that I wanted to take a picture of her work.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Peter Tucker at <a href="http://roomboxes.com/">Roomboxes Etc</a>. is another one who never disappoints. We had a nice conversation about modern and he enlightened me on what the black Reitveld chair on the top row is used for in RL. It was used for customers at furriers. They would drape their fur coat over the arm of the chair so that it would not touch the floor and so that they could show off the label in their coat. Another thing I love about Peter Tucker is that he never makes the exact same thing twice.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I can't believe I've been blogging about modern miniatures since April of 2011. Over the last five years I have met a bunch of really great people. It's been through blogging and reading blogs that I have discovered a world of dollhouse miniatures that I never knew existed. I've made friends, found amazing resources and learned a lot of techniques for making miniatures. So, I think it's time to celebrate and thank my miniature friends by having a giveaway.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BhWazw6WIiQ/VwwEOdQjvHI/AAAAAAAAG4k/44GwZS1_vZwV63_Bqgrvmm40UC6gS1ZcA/s1600/DSCN1249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BhWazw6WIiQ/VwwEOdQjvHI/AAAAAAAAG4k/44GwZS1_vZwV63_Bqgrvmm40UC6gS1ZcA/s320/DSCN1249.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I'm giving away this re-upholstered vintage Bodo Hennig chair along with the pillow and a few other things that I haven't decided on yet.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Just comment on this post and I will do a random drawing of all the names and announce the winner on April 25th.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Thank you for following!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I know you probably don't want to hear me bitch about stuff nor do you like to read lengthy posts without pictures, but this really pisses me off!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As many of you know, I also have a Mini Mod Pod Facebook page. I've had the page for some time now and have created what I think is a pretty good following. As I'm sure some of you do, I try to keep my mini life somewhat separate from my personal life. I don't want to bombard my personal friends with miniatures because quite frankly, they are not interested.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I do love to talk minis and share new and or old things I find interesting in the mini world. Facebook seems to be a good way to do that....and it's free...for now. Recently Facebook is treating my page like a business page and won't let me share posts or comment on posts from other pages as Mini Mod Pod, only from my personal page. I can't even see posts by pages or people that Mini Mop Pod likes!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now I have to figure out a way to post mini stuff as Mad for Mod/Mini Mod Pod...maybe a new private group for modern and midcentury miniatures? Maybe I should just start a new account as Mad for Mod?</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strike>I think</strike> I have decided what I'm going to do for the this year's Creatin' Contest: </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zVrbCpVydiA/VtTyTPMiIzI/AAAAAAAAGic/vC2I24TqXEQ/s1600/8x20-free-house-plans-600x476.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zVrbCpVydiA/VtTyTPMiIzI/AAAAAAAAGic/vC2I24TqXEQ/s320/8x20-free-house-plans-600x476.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I still need to do a dry fit to decide whether or not I'm going to do a loft or some kind of Murphy bed/sofa bed, but I think this will work. I'm going to forgo the current porch and use the entire base as the house. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I will add a deck on one end with a front door and the side where the big windows will be (like the one below).</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZVKLw5HjEi8/VtTzROXZM8I/AAAAAAAAGio/BREwz92SIA0/s1600/Tiny-Modern-Prefab-Sun-House-04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZVKLw5HjEi8/VtTzROXZM8I/AAAAAAAAGio/BREwz92SIA0/s320/Tiny-Modern-Prefab-Sun-House-04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">...Of course, knowing me I will get half way into the build and decide to go another direction. I think the trick for me is not to get too ambitious or impatient.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">#HBSCreatinContest2016</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In addition, I just bought this large lot of Bodo Hennig / German made minis off of Ebay. I actually only wanted to keep a few pieces and was planning of selling off the rest, but as I unwrapped the pieces I found that there were many more that I like and will be keeping.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYpD0IyB9Kc/VtT0QbbiylI/AAAAAAAAGi0/7ROnFotRqmI/s1600/s-l1600%2B%25283%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYpD0IyB9Kc/VtT0QbbiylI/AAAAAAAAGi0/7ROnFotRqmI/s320/s-l1600%2B%25283%2529.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Some of them are duplicates of what I already have so I will re-sell those or give some as gifts...maybe a giveaway since I haven't had one in awhile.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I'm just curious what you think if I were to reupholster the pieces that I'm not fond of...like ALL of the floral prints. Do you think that would "devalue" the pieces for those who are purists? or does it really matter as long as it is done well?</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I got my 2016 HBS Contest kit - The Backyard Bungalow a few days ago. When I first saw the kit online, I was uninspired because it just wan't my style. Quite frankly, It's still not my style, but I can make it into something that is. I haven't opened it yet for dry fit it, but I have spent days drawing out different floor plans for a Tiny house. Even at my RL job I sneak in a doodle here and there. For some reason I just can't get it right so I decided to go on Pinterest and Google Images for some ideas....well, now I have too many ideas and can't decide. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">See what I mean? Decisions, decisions, decisions. Do I use one kit or two? Do I use two and stack them on top of each other or next to each other? I want to use two, but my work space is limited...My work room is in an attic and the side walls are only 4 feet tall. so storage and usable work space is at a premium. Do I use one and go out or up? Who knew that a seemingly uninspiring kit could inspire so many ideas?</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The last time I posted about the Creating Contest Mad Men Office, I was having a bit of trouble with the carpeting and glue soaking through it. Well, Thanks to Fran at <a href="http://miniatures.com/">Miniatures.com</a> and her great advice, the carpeting is attached and looks great.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0A8b_OiD8Q8/Vs41mH6GWhI/AAAAAAAAGcw/FCqtnwv2c9Y/s1600/DSCN1177.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0A8b_OiD8Q8/Vs41mH6GWhI/AAAAAAAAGcw/FCqtnwv2c9Y/s320/DSCN1177.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I know the picture is really dark, but I'll get a better one next time. I've also gotten the teak veneer on the walls and silver edging up. Next is getting the lighting hooked up then it will be time to start on Don Draper's decorating. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I have been looking for a Millie August Magic Mini Pleater to make the window treatments for a couple of months now. The last one I found on Ebay was a bit out of my price range. If anyone knows where I can get one PLEASE let me know.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have also made a little progress on the Citadel Kitchen</span></div>

<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The bottom cabinets are a dark grey gloss laminate from Formica and it's called...wait for it..."Citadel". The uppers will be a white gloss. The stove and fridge are kits from <a href="http://www.elfminiatures.co.uk/">Elf Miniatures</a></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">. I asked Elizabeth if she could either make an orange fridge to go with the orange cooker kit or even just some of the orange plastic that is on the cooker so I could make my own. Within a couple of hours she got back to me with this awesome matching fridge kit (which is now for sale on the website).</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When I first saw the 2016 Creatin' Contest kit, I was a little uninspired. Now that we are supposedly going to have an early spring (we cal only hope) I have had an aha moment and started brain storming.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is the 2016 kit: The Backyard Bungalow</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-il3Xgck769o/VrHz6jLgSEI/AAAAAAAAGTo/gVhhDqZAf5U/s1600/92016_md.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-il3Xgck769o/VrHz6jLgSEI/AAAAAAAAGTo/gVhhDqZAf5U/s1600/92016_md.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here are a couple of ideas for a beach bungalow.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6_fDUAOi614/VrH0GaYjWlI/AAAAAAAAGTs/947-BGvjaT4/s1600/architecture-modern-residence2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6_fDUAOi614/VrH0GaYjWlI/AAAAAAAAGTs/947-BGvjaT4/s320/architecture-modern-residence2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A2kSmoERBNs/VrH0H3Jb1HI/AAAAAAAAGTw/VQk0504zrlE/s1600/pl2021365-bali_prefabricated_wooden_houses_etc_home_beach_bungalows_for_holiday_living.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="176" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A2kSmoERBNs/VrH0H3Jb1HI/AAAAAAAAGTw/VQk0504zrlE/s320/pl2021365-bali_prefabricated_wooden_houses_etc_home_beach_bungalows_for_holiday_living.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is a pretty small kit, so I will have to buy two.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Another idea I had is to do a Tiny House. One of those really compact 200 square foot homes with lots of hidden multi purpose furniture and storage.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I will probably just get the kits and play around with them until I decide.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Now that the HBS Contest is done, I've had a little time to get back to working on the Citadel. First I've been working on the lighting. Several months ago I purchased a couple of the <a href="https://www.shapeways.com/product/UKA7LYTRQ/modern-vase-1-12-scale?li=user-profile&optionId=40989143">Alvar Aalto</a> vases from <a href="https://www.shapeways.com/designer/modernminifan?li=pb">Modern Mini Fan</a> (AKA <a href="http://modernminihouses.blogspot.com/">Modern Mini Houses)</a> to make a light out of. I started thinking about it and thought a larger version would be really cool as an overhead light so I contacted her and asked if she could make it in a larger size. She was very acomodating and quickly made a larger version. I was originally going to use it for a dining chandelier, but since the ceilings are tall in the Citadel I thought it would be a great ceiling light. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CGAeNM803SI/VqQ4i7vpi7I/AAAAAAAAGJ8/gSMlZuZqeVQ/s1600/DSCN1114.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CGAeNM803SI/VqQ4i7vpi7I/AAAAAAAAGJ8/gSMlZuZqeVQ/s320/DSCN1114.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L097hupv1LU/VqQ4izF2lkI/AAAAAAAAGKA/TmGMHcVnj5c/s1600/DSCN1115.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L097hupv1LU/VqQ4izF2lkI/AAAAAAAAGKA/TmGMHcVnj5c/s320/DSCN1115.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> Though the room has no finishings and I haven't decided what room it will be (probably a bathroom or office) I think the light looks awesome!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y3mNAe-lVtI/VqQ4l88TfGI/AAAAAAAAGKQ/XZRUgR0snnc/s1600/DSCN1111.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y3mNAe-lVtI/VqQ4l88TfGI/AAAAAAAAGKQ/XZRUgR0snnc/s320/DSCN1111.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Next I got the recessed lights working in the kitchen. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've been admiring the colored cookers at <a href="http://www.elfminiatures.co.uk/">Elf Miniatures</a> for some time and of course my favorite color is orange. I wanted to make a fridge that matches the cooker so I asked Elizabeth at Elf if she could either make one or send me a piece of the same orange plastic to make a matching fridge myself. She blew me away by making a <a href="http://www.elfminiatures.co.uk/ELF+fridge+kit+%28choice+of+colour%29+PWt6TjRNRE14b0RkalZIWnZKSGM">kit version</a> of a picture of a fridge that I sent her. First, it's awesome and second very affordable.</span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BGw4fzgSkmw/VqQ4l7lVSxI/AAAAAAAAGKM/EnQUsgMcGak/s1600/DSCN1113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BGw4fzgSkmw/VqQ4l7lVSxI/AAAAAAAAGKM/EnQUsgMcGak/s320/DSCN1113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I started laying out the kitchen using the cooker and fridge kits that I already put together from Elf Miniatures. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YTD2Ut8C7eU/VqQ4mXoR0zI/AAAAAAAAGKU/hK53DcH5lB4/s1600/DSCN1112.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YTD2Ut8C7eU/VqQ4mXoR0zI/AAAAAAAAGKU/hK53DcH5lB4/s320/DSCN1112.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> I "planted" some succulents in the built in planter and added some paneling in the entry way.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AUSf5M3-CIU/VqQ4m-NHvoI/AAAAAAAAGKg/AAiPvz0EHQQ/s1600/DSCN1118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AUSf5M3-CIU/VqQ4m-NHvoI/AAAAAAAAGKg/AAiPvz0EHQQ/s320/DSCN1118.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The clock and cactus coat tree are from<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/PICCOLEIDEEmoderne"> Piccoleidee Moderne</a> on Etsy. I blogged about them recently<a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3231289789599606817#editor/target=post;postID=3187588244514015117;onPublishedMenu=allposts;onClosedMenu=allposts;postNum=4;src=postname"> here</a>. </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used pre-made single french doors for the rooms, but frosted the windows for privacy. I started making my own doors but then decided it was a bit of a pain in the ass so I bought these from <a href="http://www.miniatures.com/">Miniatures.com </a> They are by Houseworks and you can remove the "glass" part to paint the frames and in my case frost the "glass".</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I</span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> addition, I have done a little bit on Don Draper's Mad Men office</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-asv16XO6T20/VqRBdvT6b9I/AAAAAAAAGLA/XLpVBIlPpk8/s1600/DSCN1120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-asv16XO6T20/VqRBdvT6b9I/AAAAAAAAGLA/XLpVBIlPpk8/s320/DSCN1120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> The ceiling is done and the windows installed.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2Z9M4ILAJ7c/VqRBdoi1YsI/AAAAAAAAGK0/qNVqikskUsY/s1600/DSCN1119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2Z9M4ILAJ7c/VqRBdoi1YsI/AAAAAAAAGK0/qNVqikskUsY/s320/DSCN1119.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is my third try on the carpeting. The first one I cut one inch short, the second showed glue (water based) on the nice side that could not be remedied and the third time I tried spray glue to install the "carpeting" which is just faux suede. As you can see, even the spray glue shows through the fabric. Next try will either something I already have or felt but I really don't want to go back to the fabric store. Besides when I was there I looked at the felt and I couldn't find the right shade of grey.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As you may know, I decided a few months ago to ditch the idea I had for the 2015 HBS contest house and gut what I did and start over. Well, that's exactly what I did. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now that the holidays are over, I've had a little time to work on Don Draper's Mad Men office. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Primarily, I've been working on doing a dropped office ceiling.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-etnBfBgv3b8/Vom1Ak-Od4I/AAAAAAAAGB0/jfF33SFKvWE/s1600/DSCN1014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-etnBfBgv3b8/Vom1Ak-Od4I/AAAAAAAAGB0/jfF33SFKvWE/s320/DSCN1014.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> I started by adding 1/2" x 1/16" wood to the bottom of the center beams and 1/4" x 1/16" on the sides. They leave just enough of a shelf to rest the dropped ceiling on. It also leaves plenty of room for the wiring. I found this sliver of plastic overhead lighting cover at work.</span></div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--N8WFDYUFWA/Vom1AqzbW3I/AAAAAAAAGB8/efb-lbizqfU/s1600/DSCN1018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--N8WFDYUFWA/Vom1AqzbW3I/AAAAAAAAGB8/efb-lbizqfU/s320/DSCN1018.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">To make acoustic tiles for the ceiling, I cut to size pieces of mat board to fit in the spaces then attached self adhesive cork and painted it white.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--2qbgmnyOkM/Vom1AgZN9nI/AAAAAAAAGB4/DbsceVWUT1s/s1600/DSCN1020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--2qbgmnyOkM/Vom1AgZN9nI/AAAAAAAAGB4/DbsceVWUT1s/s320/DSCN1020.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> To make sure the acoustic tiles and plastic conform to the curve of the beams, I put in little blocks to keep them from moving.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Voila, a dropped ceiling. </span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; text-align: center;">I worked out the photos for Area 54! This was a fun build to do. It's something different from what I usually do, but still modern...maybe ultra modern? Now, I have more than enough booze bottles for the Mad Men office. I made the ceiling with exposed duct work etc. so that I can some day add some windows and turn this into an industrial loft /studio apartment. I still don't like using dolls in photos, but I do like the Daft Punk guys (the guy in front carding people and the bar tender) and my Austin Powers action figures. I just think they're funny. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; text-align: center;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; text-align: center;"> So here are the official pics:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Well, It's finished. Area 54 is a bar / night club that is Area 51 meets Studio 54. It turned out more or less as I envisioned. My only problem is that the deadline is tomorrow and I can't seem to get ant good pictures of the whole structure. I had planned on taking it outside today to photograph it. I thought it might even look kind of cool with Christmas lights behind it...but if rained all day and MDF and water don't like each other very much. I'm going to work on the pics some more tonight, but here are a few preliminary shots.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yyMG9kpf8lw/Vm9DJRqFUnI/AAAAAAAAFyE/mj64BIFDOCE/s1600/DSCN0915.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yyMG9kpf8lw/Vm9DJRqFUnI/AAAAAAAAFyE/mj64BIFDOCE/s320/DSCN0915.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The bar as seen from above (before I put the roof on). I wanted to show the kegs and what not that are under the bar.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Lots of lighting and a tiny blue tooth speaker above the door.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The ceiling complete with sprinkler system in case of fire.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here is where I need some work on the photos. I think I will just try ironing the sheet and see if that helps. I don't usually use dolls for my builds, but I thought it might be fun to add some for this one. I do love the scrolling sign.</span><br />
