Facebook Frustrations

I know you probably don't want to hear me bitch about stuff nor do you like to read lengthy posts without pictures, but this really pisses me off!

As many of you know, I also have a Mini Mod Pod Facebook page.  I've had the page for some time now and have created what I think is a pretty good following. As I'm sure some of you do, I try to keep my mini life somewhat separate from my personal life.  I don't want to bombard my personal friends with miniatures because quite frankly, they are not interested.

I do love to talk minis and share new and or old things I find interesting in the mini world. Facebook seems to be a good way to do that....and it's free...for now.  Recently Facebook is treating my page like a business page and won't let me share posts or comment on posts from other pages as Mini Mod Pod, only from my personal page.  I can't even see posts by pages or people that Mini Mop Pod likes!

Now I have to figure out a way to post mini stuff as Mad for Mod/Mini Mod Pod...maybe a new private group for modern and midcentury miniatures? Maybe I should just start a new account as Mad for Mod?

I can hardly wait for this to occur to me too in due time

Maybe a Tumblr account or vsco.co account? Ain't nothin' for free out there in the long term. Buggers.

  2. I understand your frustration. I would love to see a private group for modern and mid-century miniatures. I too try to keep my personal Facebook separate from my minis.

  3. A group could be a great idea - if you have the time and energy to moderate it! Though I'm sure you could find other people to act as administrators.
Facebook says it can't find anything called Mini Mod Pod. I haven't had a page or group on facebook, but I know a lot of pages had to become groups recently. Probably others will know more about the ins and outs of facebook changes.

  4. I don't understand why Facebook considers your page as a business? Is it because it isn't a persons name or that you advertise things that you make? It's a shame that you can't share things that you like or find interesting. I would start another account =0/

  5. Facebook can be so annoying, I'm sorry to hear about your account. That's exactly one of the reasons why I don't like social media, it is not about what you want to share with your friends anymore, but about what they want you to share. I deleted my Facebook account long ago, mostly also noticing how much time I lost there. Not being someone who likes to write, I like sticking on my blog and spending the little spare time I have on there or by reading other blogs. But in your case I would just follow Pepper's advise an start a new account :)

    1. I've often thought about closing my account. The only reason I haven't is because of my page. My husband closed his a bout a year ago.

  6. Maybe a group would be fun? I don't post about minis on my personal page and it would be lovely to meet with people whose aesthetic is similar to mine as many of the mini groups on FB aren't really my thing (antique etc).
