And So It Begins...The First of Four Give Aways!

The time has come to start the give aways...Why? Well, I'll tell you.

Reason #1: To thank all of you who have been following this blog. If it weren't for this blog I would have never have "met" so many wonderful people who share the same interest. Not to mention made some new friends and learned a lot about making miniatures and miniature scenes.

Reason #2:  To celebrate 1 year of blogging.

Reason #3: Because I want to.  I love surprises and I think most people do too.

Reason #4: My cheap ploy to get more followers.

Here it goes.....
The first give away is:

A pair of these adorable CB2 Igloo chairs.  I painted them a great lime green color.  It looks a little light in this pic, but it's actually nice and bright.

The Rules:
1: Be a follower of this blog.  If you are not, then you can become one.
2: Write a nice comment on this post.
3: The deadline is May 21st.  I will announce the winner sometime that week.
4: I will be having a new give away each week  for a total of four give aways. You must enter each give away that you want to win.
5: I will ship to mini lovers anywhere.
6: Posting a link to this blog from your blog or website is not necessary, but much appreciated!

HAVE FUN!

Modern Mini Houses on Ebay

Today I had the pleasure of working from home because there was no internet at the office where I work. While taking a break from all of the work I was doing (wink, wink), I ran across a few modern mini houses on Ebay (not to be confused with Megan's Modern Mini Houses).

This one is adorble and only about 7" x 7"

The Villa Sibi-this one is in Australia-Jazzi and The Shopping Sherpa: could this one be for you?

The Dylan.  I put this one on here because of the great price: $109

Then there is the Greenleaf Brookwood.  This one had an 80's modern vibe, but has wonderful potential.

Sorry the pics are so small somehow that's how they got saved on my computer.

News Flash!

Give away coming this weekend...stay tuned!!! It's going to be good!

Tiny Modern

I recently found this new modern mini maker.  I actually found her on Flickr, but she has a shop on Etsy called...you guessed it:  Tiny Modern.

She makes some nice Ikea-like things such as this little coffee table:

And this cute little sofa:

Check it out!

Mission Completed!

Magazine/Catalog Challenge:
The challnge is to recreate a scene form a catalog or magazine in miniature.

This is the picture I am recreating.  It's from a CB2 catalog.  Oh how I wish we had a CB2 here!

A little too spread apart.

Here is the finished product.  The details: I made the floor lamp using mini party lights (battery operated of course) and a little tripod I found at the dollar store; the sofa, book case, pillows and white ottoman are by me; The T.V. is Brinca Dada, the rug is a piece of fabric and the rest of the accessories, tables and books are ebay finds.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Since it's finally spring, I decided to make a little outdoor scene:

I finally went ahead with the Modfire that I made on a previous post. It looks much better with a bit of paint.  The fire is a battery operated tea light.  It would NEVER have been possible without Pepper's tutorial.

I repainted a modern kitchen set for an outside kitchen. It used to be navy blue, I also took off the hardware to give it a cleaner look.

The shelf above the kitchen set is a piece of aluminum channeling.

I've always loved these chairs.  When I was a kid, they had them in the children's section of our library.  They were red, white and yellow. They were so comfortable and so much fun to spin around in. Maybe that was where my love of modern decorating came from.

Reinventing the Bubble Chair

OK, I know I should be working on the challenge of replicating a picture from a catalog or magazine...BTW let's make the deadline May 1st-ish.There is no need for absolutes here.

Anyway, the cat is out of the bag and everyone knows how to make the hanging bubble chair now.  So, I think it's time to do some reinventing:

I painted the chair and added a base to it. I also finally got a Lekman box !

The lamp is a battery operated floor lamp from miniatures.com that I put the bottom (or top) of one of those cheap chinese kids prizes on.

The deets: Sofa, magazine rack and coffee table are AG minis, bubble chair, silver pillow and sputnik lamp are by me, the rug is a greeting card, the little plant is from Hancock Fabrics, the martini glass is from a mini show and the magazines are Ebay finds and the wood flooring is a placemat.

Margaret-Loves: A Challenge

As you know per my last post.  Margaret Loves came up with a pretty good challenge to go out of our comfort zone. So, here is what I came up with:

I was going to make the book case and bunk beds as one, but decided that I will get a lot more use from each as separate pieces.

Wow, it just dawned on me that I actually made  (more or less) all of the furniture in this scene.

I finally got to use the bubble chair in a scene!

I wish I could make full scale bunk beds like this!

Now..Margaret has put forth another challenge...To make a challenge.  My challenge is to take a picture from your favorite catalog, magazine or even online pic and replicate it in miniature. Let's say May 1st for a deadline.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
