Something New

I love modern minis but I just don't have the cash flow to buy what I like from some of the mini modern artisans out there, although I have purchased a thing or two that I could afford.  A pouf and a Dwell magazine from PRD (because I don't know how to knit), some small items like faucets and the like from Elf Miniatures, a sofa from Minimodernistas and a table and cardboard deer head from Amazing Miniatures.  Other than that I have mostly been buying vintage items on Ebay.

So, I thought I could start making a few things of my own.  I broke down and bought a good mini table saw.  It's awesone!  I highly recommend it!

Here is what I made last week:
With the table saw, I was finally able to make some accurate cuts and able to make grooves for the doors to slide on.  It took a little longer than I expected but I think it turned out pretty well.  The taps are from Elf Miniatures.

I really like how the counter top turned out.
With any luck, I will carve out some time to make something else in the next week or so. ;-)

For Sale on E-bay---Spread the word!

I have decided to sell one of my houses on E-bay.  I love this house.  It's the first one I have designed and built.  I'm simply at capacity and have no more room.  I'm going to start making modern mini furniture and accessories.  Look for my Etsy store to open in the next couple of weeks.

All the doors and windows are custom made.

The angled balcony wraps around the side of the house. See the block walls?

All wallpaper and flooring is included, but the house comes unfurnished.  The stairs are removable.

Cable, wood and aluminum stair rail.

It's listed as pick up only  in Carmel, IN.  If anyone is seriously interested in having it shipped, let me know.  It wouldn't be cheap!

I want to give a HUGE thank you to Modern Mini Houses and Manor Minis and More for mentioning the house on their blogs.  ;-)  You rock!

Shagadelic Baby, Yeah!

A couple of weeks ago, my husband had to do some wiring in the attic so we decided to go through all the junk in there and get rid of some stuff.  There were boxes that had never been gone through when we moved into our house...6 and a half years ago.

I found this box of old Austin Powers action figures (yes, I was really into those movies).  Since they weren't really worth anything on Ebay, I decided to use them in a scene.  I typically don't use dolls, but I thought it was a little funny!

It's quite the party!  I made the bar.

Oh no, the cat is going to get the cookies!

Such a ladies man! The white shag rug is faux fur.

I like how the plexiglass bar top turned out.

I put a little battery operated light I found at Michael's in the wedding section in the bar to give it an "ultra lounge" look. I've been finding more little led lights.  One of these days, I will figure out how to make them into lamps.

On a Quest

I have been on a quest to find a few things.  Just a few months ago, I found them on the Minimum World web site and occasionally on Ebay.  Why didn't I buy them when I saw them?  Good question! Lesson learned...if you like it buy it, it may not be there next time you look.  ;-) These are the things I am looking for.
The entertainment unit.

I'm looking for the white modern kitchen set.

The light wood shelving unit.

If anyone knows where I can get these pieces, please let me know.  I would really appreciate it!  They are so versatile.  I'm guessing they might be made by Streets Ahead or Aztec, but I don't know for sure.

I borrowed the pics of the shelving unit and the entertainment center from another blog.  I hope she doesn't mind.  If you see this, please let me know if you would like me to take them down and I certainly will.

Still in a blue mood...

I never used to like the color turquoise, but apparently I'm becoming quite fond of it.
My fave color is still orange and has been for years.  Orange is the "hot" color for for 2012 by the way.

This great table is from Amazing Miniatures. Isn't amazing?  The chairs are Phantom chairs which are actually wedding favors, but are fab for 1"=1'.

I made the chandellier from an upside down plastic tea light candle base and glued glass beads all around it. I used silver stretchy string and threaded it through a finding I found at the hardware store.  I also made the sculpture from a bead, aluminum tubing and a piece of wood.

The vase is a Petite Princess vase, the box is Rement and the rug is a piece of embossed scrap book paper.

See this credenza?

This is what it looked like this afternoon.  Isn't is amazing what a little paint can do?  I also used some faux snake skin vinyl from a place mat I found at Crate and Barrel for the inserts.  It's kind of like it went from the country to the city.
