Since Miniatures.com has officially announced the 2012 Creatin Contest grand prize winner, I guess it's ok for me to talk about it.
First here it is....The Grand Prize Winner!
Congratulations Kerry Ann Norell!
Unfortunately, they have not announced the first place, second place, third place, first time entrant or honorable mention winners. At least not officially. Secretly, I know who a couple of them are and their entries are wonderful!!! I'll let you know when they are officially announced.
I did however get an Honorable Mention award...I'm a little dissappointed, but it was lots of fun and I really like the way the house turned out especially the inside. I also learned a lot about wiring.
Lesson learned...don't wait until the last day to take pictures!
Congrats to all the winners. I can't wait to see all of the entries!
Cyd your Butterfly house is beautiful!Congrats on Honorable Mention and don't be harsh on yourself...many of us only wish to have your talent! Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Jazzi, you are so sweet to say that! Big Hug!
DeleteI couldn’t agree more with jazzi I only wish I had you’re skills so if they don’t recognize them that is there problem!
DeleteHug !
Thanks Mandy, I think they just look for certain things that my entry didn't include.
DeleteWell, Cyd, I like your the best....it is really very cool. You win in my book!

Cyd, I have noticed that avant garde rarely wins contests unless the contest specifically wants that, like the DWR. Champagne Chair contest. That's not to say the winner wasn't fabulous because it was. Your entry was incredibly modern and envelope-pushing (how's that for turning a noun and a verb into an adjective) and ahead of its time, which is why your entry should be on the cover of Architectural Digest when it finally gets around to recognizing design in miniature.
ReplyDeleteSorry that you didn't win

I don't think high design is the criteria for that contest. Maybe who uses their catalog items best? Usually they go for folksy. I'm just sayin...
ReplyDeleteCyd, I love your house and I think that you should be right up there with me. Actually, when I went snooping around to see other entries around deadline time, I saw yours and went "Ooooh, competition!" Your build is fantastic, out of the box and so fresh. I love all your ultra mod finishes and the huge windows. I would give you my seat in a heartbeat. You did an outstanding job. :))
ReplyDeleteLyssa, that is so sweet of you! After seeing yours, Brandaen's and the third place winner, I know they chose the best of the bunch. I feel good about Honorable Mention.
DeleteI have to say that I would not want to be a judge of any of the submitted entries! Every one of these projects are superb! Although, I'm not very well versed in 'Modern' minis, I enjoy looking at creative solutions to every day objects. Your house has a lot of atmosphere in the design, and you have very clean and refined tastes that I think are very original. I suppose the question is, do you want to build and stay true to YOUR vision or build to win to satisfy the tastes of others?
