Changes to the Citadel

I haven't worked on the Citadel in some time.  The last time I posted about it, it looked like this:
After the center portion falling on the floor and breaking several times plus the fact that I would have to figure out a way to reconfigure the stairs to fit without the curved section that came with the kit. I decided to make a few changes.  I think I am going to use the curved section, but add some windows or better yet, make it glass block.

This picture shows the house with the curved section attached.

I'm thinking of doing something like this:

Anyway, armed with a hot hair dryer and a putty knife I removed all of the siding.

We have a lot of beech edge banding left over from our kitchen redo, so I decided to use it as the new siding..

I know it looks a bit like all of the other Citadel dollhouses you see around, but I just wasn't feeling the other siding.  I do intend to keep the front center portion removable for taking pictures and I'm going to use metal to edge the the exterior walls.

  1. This is a very gorgeous miniature house, with many unique facets, and you have the talent to finish it with your extremely clever furniture and interior design!

  2. I wouldn't worry about it resembling other Citadel houses...when something works, it just works. :D I love this house and am so glad you're bringing to life!

  3. I like the direction you are going in, the glass windows will be a wow factor...This is one of my favorite houses. It was recently up for auction on eBay. I just couldn't justify the for now I will admire vicariously through you...

  4. I love the idea of having a lot of glass in the main facade and if you can keep that fab curve, even better. I prefer the new lats you've put on too =0)

  5. La idea es muy bonita, pero tienes mucho trabajo por delante

  6. I've always loved this dollhouse and I'm so happy to see you giving it an update. The glass facade is something that I've always wanted on a house and but have never seen one in RL till this. I love the idea of being able to look in from the outside in up all those floors. It looks so so good! Can't wait to see more :D
